Spring Patio – WORK IN PROGRESS

Inspired by Henri Matisse and his paintings of the France’s Provence region. Springtime is a compelling time to get outside, enjoy the garden and sit on the patio to feel the sights and sounds of Nature, neighbors and sunshine.

Raised in rural Wisconsin and moving seven times in thirteen years piqued my interest in diverse landscapes, flora and fauna. Whether a mass of color blur or the focal point, each is recording its environment and time. My chemical engineering background is reflected in my creative practice focusing on materials and process. The bold use of initial marks that swirl through the backgrounds of floral compositions, echo and amplify the rhythms of the naturally drawn floral elements.
